The Beach in May!?

Since my 4-year-old daughter told me that she wanted to play in sand of the beach, my children and I went to the beach near my parent's house.

It is getting hotter and hotter recently, it is like summer though it is still at the end of May.

I expected that they would want to play in the sea not only playing in sand, so I told them to wear the swimsuits at home.

Just as I expected, they started to play in the little wave rather than playing in sand.

My 6-year-old son found a polycladida in the shallows and caught it using a bucket.

Since all of us saw it for the first time and nobody knew the name of it, we were curious about it and watching it for a while.

They were absorbed in playing around the beach.

I was able to relax lying on the beach and listening to the sound of the wave.

And it was the first time for me to go to the beach in May because the temperature in May is usually not enough warm to swim.

Isn't this also one of the effects of the global warming?

The only one original pottery in the world

I wrote that we visited my hometown in Golden Week.

(my past entry → http://a-o-j-m.blogspot.jp/2015/05/my-sweet-hometown.html )

We experienced painting underglaze on potteries there.

I chose a mug and my children chose plates.

The mug and plates which finished biscuit firing and glazing were delivered to our house last Tuesday.

The left plate was painted by my 6-year-old son.

His theme was "The Forest at night".

The right one is my 4-year-old daughter's.

She drew "The Fireworks".

And I painted my children on the mug.

They were so glad to see their output and they use them at the mealtime.

My husband told his daughter, " Your plate seems that colors drip on it!"

She argued against him,  "It is a fireworks! How beautiful it is!"

I am drinking coffee using the mug while writing this article.

The mug and plates will become our good memory in the future.

Kid's sumo tournament

My 6-year-old son participated in the kid's sumo tounament yesterday.

He got the flyer from school last month.

When I read it, I told him "Why don't you participated in this tounament? You like sumo very much!"

He likes sumo and he often asks my husband and me to play sumo with him.

He answered, "No, I don't want to. Maybe I will not be able to win."

I said, "Why do you say so before you try? You never know until you try!"

He changed his mind and I applied for participation.

There were many children and family at the venue.

The venue was overflowing with excitement and enthusiasm from the vigor of many children and families.

Children were worn "mawashi"(sumo belt) on the gymnastics pants by staff and took off the T-shirts.

My son lost the first match, but he won the second match!

He didn't look nervous though many people were watching the match.

He was not scared to collide with the opponent.

I was proud of his courage!

Needless to say, I had to play sumo with him many times!

It makes me tired because he was getting stronger and stronger, so I have to play it seriously.

My 6-year-old son's masterpiece

My 6-year-old son was concentrating on drawing a picture of dinousor when I went to the children's house to pick him up in the yesterday's evening.

I was impressed with his fine work.

This picture was drawn by my 4-year-old daughter.

She said "This is mom!"

I never wear a ribbon but she has an image of me like the picture.

Their ways of drawing are completely different though they are brother and sister!

He is a realist and she is an impressionist.

It is very interesting for me.

What day is it today?

Before he went to work in the yesterday's morning , my husband told me "Today is the birthday."

"Whose birthday?" I asked to him.

"My birthday." He answered.

I was so surprised to hear that.

I completely forgot his birthday though I remembered that today is "Mother's day".

It was the first time to forget his birthday after we met each other.

"Happy Birthday!" I told him in hurry.

I made "Hand-rolled sushi" for dinner.

After he came back, we held his birthday party.

Hand-rolled sushi is very easy to make, we can enjoy sushi at home.

We only put vinegared rice and favorite ingredients (raw fish like tuna, squid, shrimp, cucumber, lettuce, and so on) on a sheet of dried seaweed and roll it.

We enjoyed dinner very much!

We can see various types of "Lucky Cat"

Since my 6-year-old son told me that he wanted to play with his grandmother, we went to my parent's house again yesterday.

I wanted to stop by one of  the sightseeing spot of the pottery called "Lucky Cat Street" because it was a nice weather.

I wrote about my hometown in my past entry. →"My Sweet Hometown" http://a-o-j-m.blogspot.jp/2015/05/my-sweet-hometown.html

My hometown is famous for its traditional industry of pottery.

We can see various types of  pottery cats at the "Lucky Cat Street" and around the promenade.

They were made by thirty nine local ceramic artists and they are symbolized our ordinary wishes.

This is so-called "Lucky Cat".

Family cats are symbolized "Household Harmony" .

This cat is symbolized "Wish you a safe delivery".

This one is "Good Luck with your study".

How about this?

If you visit there, your hope may come true?

I gave ourselves a reward for working hard

I wrote that I gave myself a reward for working hard when I was busy in my past entry.

Since my husband is very busy and he has to work every Saturday and Sunday recently, I have to take care of my children and do housework almost alone.

I had been very busy and tired.

But he had a day off last Friday after a long interval.

I hit on a good idea and called him after I finished my work.

"Why don't we go out for dinner tonight?"

In fact, I don't like cooking very much.

I was about tired of handmade meals by myself, so I wanted to give ourselves a reward for working hard.

He said, "OK."

We decided to go to the Japanese food restaurant where I have been to once with my co-workers.

We chose ”all-you-can-eat Japanese foods” that we could eat sushi, tempura, shabu-shabu, and so on.

My 6-year-old son ate eight fried chicken and my 4-year-old daughter ate five chocolate donuts!

All of us ate too much but we could have dinner together after a long time and have a good time.

You will be fine

Today is the last day of Golden Week.

My family spent at home while relaxing and watched a movie of "Doraemon (very popular anime in Japan)" in the morning.

My 6-year-old son asked his father and I to go to the park near our house with him.

He wanted to ride a swing.

But I suggested that he needs to practise riding a bicycle without training wheels.

He stubbornly denied my suggestion because he was scared.

But my 4-year-old daughter told me, " I want to try!" though it was too early for her.

I told them, "Anyway, let's go to the park!"

First, my husband took her training wheels off her bicycle.

She tried to ride it, but it was too difficult for her.

I supported her and she could ride a little.

But she didn't try it anymore because she was scared.

Next, it was the time that my son tried to do it.

I told him, "It is not a problem to fail. You can learn something from your failure. Failure teaches us to stand up and correct ourselves from the previous mistake!"

He was so reluctant to try it, but he didn't refuse it.

My husband supported him going at first, and he released his hands after that.

He could ride himself!

I told him, "You can ride without the training wheels!"

He looked happy, but he couldn't turn.

He told us, "That's enough. I want to ride a swing!"

He practiced just a little after that.

Maybe he was scared though he could ride a bycicle.

I thought my children did well today, to try something new is very important regardless of its outcome.

My sweet hometown

Since it would be crowded during Golden Week, my children and I visited my parents' house on Saturday and Sunday.

In fact, my hometown is famous for its pottery and it is one of the "Six Ancient Kilns of Japan".

We often went to their house, but my children had never been to any sightseeing spots related to the pottery.

So we decided to visit one of the famous sightseeing spots.

It is the promenade where there are many factories of potteries, and we can walk through many narrow alleys like a maze, see many potteries, and enjoy local foods in many restaurants.

They are chimneys of climbing kilns.

It is built more than 120 years ago.

This is a very big "Lucky Cat".

Its raising left hand means "Many customers will come".

We can find many pottery cats everywhere in the promenade.

It is a very big frog shaped water jar.

I used to run and play there when I was an elementary students.

Now my children enjoyed running and playing there.

Walking there again, was very nostalgic for me.

The number of views to my blog finally exceeded 10,000

Since I have been studying about bookkeeping to pass the exam in June, I don't have much time to write this blog.

But I found that the number of views to my blog finally exceeded 10,000 last Thursday, 7 months after I started it!

I am very grateful to all the people who came to my blog and read them though I can't write it so often recently.

This is just my diary to record my daily events and what I thought, and study English.

But for my work to be read by many people encourages me a lot.

I am going to write it as possible as I can.

I will be glad if you would visit here again!
