Giant cucmubers

My husband harvested the giant cucumbers yesterday morning.

I had checked whether there was a giant cucumber every day because I wanted to harvest it before it became too big.

But I didn't notice these cucumbers because they were under the big leaves.

I made salad using one of them, it was very nice than I expected!

It tasted like a melon.

I think it is not so bad that I sometimes harvest cucumbers after it grows bigger than usual.

  1. Hello Kumi-san,

Those cucumbers look like they grew very well. You and your husband seem to have very green thumbs (skilled at growing plants and vegetables).

Here is a list of other issues found in the rest of the post:

    This line:
    Giant cucmubers

    Should be:
    Giant cucumbers

    Reason: Spelling mistake.

    This line:
I had checked whether there was a giant cucumber every day because I wanted to harvest it before it became too big.

    Should be:
I had checked whether the giant cucumber was ready for (picking/harvesting) every day because I wanted to harvest it before it became too big.

    This line:
I made salad using one of them, it was very nice than I expected!

    Should be:
I made salad using one of them, it was (much nicer than/nicer than) I expected!

    This line:
I think it is not so bad that I sometimes harvest cucumbers after it grows bigger than usual.

    Should be:
I think it is not so bad that I sometimes harvest cucumbers after they grow bigger than usual.

Reason: In the sentence you wrote you used the plural for cucumber "cucumbers" this means that "after it grows" because "after they grow". They is used because there is more than one cucumber and grow is used because the previous word "they" is already plural.

Note: Even with native English speakers they often write the sentence in the same way you did but technically this is not correct.

    Examples:

It is a big mushroom. (Correct - It is used because it's a singular mushroom)
It is a big mushrooms. (Wrong - it implies singular but mushrooms is plural, they conflict).

The colors of the rainbow, they are very pretty (Correct - when referring to each color in the group)

The colors of the rainbow, it is very pretty (Wrong - using the plural of color (colors) but using the singular for "it is very pretty". This would be fine if referring to the rainbow as a whole but when referring to the colors its technically wrong.

The colors of the rainbow are impressive. It is a very pretty rainbow (Correct)

Note: Even though it's wrong, it's wrong in a very minor way and would be totally understandable to English speakers.
