The result of the first stage Eiken exam

The results of the first stage Eiken Grade Pre-1 exam was announced on their website yesterday.

I accessed the website and opened the page where I could get the results.

My heart was beating.

I could see the word of "Pass"!!!

This was my score.

Reading   634 / 750
Listening 605 / 750
Writing    673 / 750
Total      1912 / 2250

The writing part was the highest score.

I think this result proves that writing this blog is effective at improving my writing skill.

(Of course I still often make mistakes when making the sentences and spelling, so I need to improve more.)

And I was surprised to see the result of listening.

It was really difficult, but I got a better score than I expected.

As for the reading part, I concentrated on studying that part the most this time.

In fact, I was lucky because some questions of the reading part were very similar to those which I studied before.

Anyway, I am really happy to be able to pass the first stage exam.

The second stage exam, the speaking test, will be held on July 10th.

I am going to concentrate on practicing for the remaining two weeks.

I hope I will pass the exam!

  2. Hello Kumi-san,

Congratulation on the results of your Eiken exam. Given your results I would say your study methods are very effective. I look forward to seeing how you do in the later stages of the Eiken exam.

This is a list of some of the other issues found in the rest of the post:

    This line:
The result of the first stage exam of Eiken

    Should be:
The results of the first stage Eiken exam

Reason: Two corrections. First result changed to results as there a multiple result scores and it sound more natural said in its plural form. Second change was a word order change to make the sentence sound more natural.

Reason: Word order correction and possible suggestion to use the word were rather than was in the sentence you wrote.

Reason: 3 corrections. First open should be opened. Second possible suggestion to use see or view rather than get (it slightly more correct though get is also commonly used). Third result changed to results as there are multiple result scores.

Reason: changed I was to I am, as I assume you are referring to your current state of being happy passing the exam.

    Should be:
I am going to concentrate on practising for the (remaining/next) two weeks.

Reason: Reworded sentence to make it sound more natural and fluid. If you wish to keep it nearer the format of your original sentence then you can use:

I am going to concentrate on practising from now on for two weeks.

Reason: Most of the time the little filler words don't matter but in this case adding the on filler word makes the sentence much more natural sounding. Either way the sentence is still completely clear in its meaning.
