Have you played Pokemon Go?

The sales representative of the pharmaceutical company came to our house yesterday evening.

I wrote about him in my previous post : http://a-o-j-m.blogspot.jp/2016/03/small-pharmacy-at-home.html

He brought two balloons for my children.

They were glad to get them and said:

"Thank you!"

After I paid him for the medicine, I asked him:

"Have you played Pokemon Go? You told me before that you are the Pokemon generation."

The Pokemon generation means that Pokemon was the trend during their childhood.

"No, I am trying not to install the app because I would get addicted to it."

He answered.

I thought his answer was in character of him.

Maybe he is busy at work and he might not be able to spare his time playing it.

Actually, I was really into playing games when I was a child.

I liked The Legend of Zelda for Gameboy, so I often played it for a long time.

But it caused my eyesight to get worse, and I need to wear contact lenses every day.

I really regretted it from the bottom of my heart, and after that, I never played games any more.

Furthermore, I am not familiar with Pokemon.

I only know Pikachu.

That's why I think the adults obsessed with playing the game seems strange.

I think playing the game is fun, but I think it is worrying and harmful because adults who should have the common sense tend to forget it while playing it.

  1. Hello Kumi-san,

I have not played Pokemon Go, although I do see it mentioned very frequently on Google+ and other websites that I read.

One interesting story I read is that some of the Pokemon are located in a Tepco nuclear power station. Which I think will make them difficult to catch unless they are power station workers at the plant who are also interesting in playing Pokemon Go at work. Though that would genuinely worry me as I would prefer they are watching the nuclear power plant status dials and readouts instead. See:

The same thing has happened at Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park:

Here is a list of issues found in the rest of the post:

    This line:
He brought two balloons for my children and gave them to them.

Reason: It is correct but can also be rewritten as:

He brought two balloons for my children.

Reason: You can assume that he gave the balloons to the children and dont really need to state it.

    This line:
"No, I try not to install the app because I would get really into it."

    Should be:
"No, I am trying not to install the app because I would (get addicted to it/not be able to stop playing it)."

    This line:
I thought the answer was just in character of him.

    Should be:
I thought his answer was in character for him.

    Or:
I thought that was what I expected him to say.

    Or:
I was not surprised by his answer as he has that kind of character.

    This line:
Maybe he is busy for his work and he might not be able to spare his time for playing it.

    Should be:
Maybe he is busy at work and he might not be able to spare his time (playing it/to play it).

    This line:
But it caused my eyesight got worse, and I need to wear the contact lens every day.

    Should be:
But it caused my eyesight to get worse, and I need to wear contact lenses every day.

Reason: In the sentence as written you use "get" not "got". Also lens is singular the plural is "lenses".

Note: If you want to keep the word "got" then you could rewrite the sentence as below:

As a result my eyesight got worse, and I need to wear contact lenses every day.

    This line:
I really regretted about it from the bottom of my heart, and after that, I never play games any more.

    Should be:
I really regretted it from the bottom of my heart, and after that, I never played games (again/any more).

Reason: Removed word "about" as it was not needed. And changed "I never play games" to "I never played games (again/any more).

    This line:
That's why I think the states that a lot of adults are obsessed with playing the game seem to be strange.

    Should be:
That's why I think that adults obsessed with playing the game (seems/is) strange.

Reason: Word order changes and removing some words that were not needed.

    This line:
I think playing the game is fun, but I think it is also fearful and harmful because adults who should have the common sense tend to forget it during playing it.

    Should be:
I think playing the game is fun, but I worry that it can be harmful because adults tend to lose their common sense when playing it.

Reason: The rewritten sentence reads much more clearly. But if you want a sentence that is nearer to your wording then it would be written as:

I think playing the game is fun, but I also think it is (worrying/fearful) and harmful because adults who should have common sense tend to forget it while playing it.

    1. Hello Terry!
Thank you for helping me a lot.
This topic was difficult to write.
But your corrections are really helpful for me.
And thank you for the links.
I also agree that they should not appear Pokemon characters in inappropriate places.
I am also worried about students who are riding bicycle often are ofsten using their smartphones.
      It is dangerous.
      Thank you so much!
