Piano trial lesson

My 6-year-old daughter took a piano trial lesson last Saturday.

She was surprised to listen to the piano's loud but beautiful sound.

The teacher told us that she will teach her how to read musical scores.

She also said that to be able to read musical scores is similar to being able to speak a foreign language.

I was deeply moved to hear that.

Since my daughter changed her mind and told me that she wants to continue the Electone lessons, I decided that I will let her learn both Electone and piano.

I want her to choose which instrument she wants to continue learning more after a few years.

Piano practice is really effective at improving children's technique of playing Electone.

It costs a lot of money and I know I am a doting mother, but I want to do so.

I have to work more and save money, but I am looking forward to starting the new start piano lessons.

Thank you(^o^) for reading this article!

  1. Hello Kumi-san,

It sounds like your daughter will have a lot of work ahead of her to do both Electone and piano lessons. Still she is young and it is often said that children do not find it very difficult to learn multiple instruments and languages. It may well be that as she improves in one instrument that she will also gain from that improvement with the other instrument. I know that piano and other types of musical instrument tuition here are very expensive, so I can only imagine that they must be even more expensive in Japan where a lot of parents will try to give their child an edge compared to the rest of the children in Japan, and the instructors know this. Still I think that enjoyment comes first and if as a by-product it helps improve your daughters other abilities then that is all the better. Not forgetting of course that you also wish to learn the piano so I hope that you are able to get as much enjoyment from learning it also.

Here is a list of some of the issues found with the rest of the post:

    Should be:

Reason: Changed "be" to "being" and added filler "a"

Reason: Changed "lesson" to "lessons" as this should be plural as there are multiple lessons. Added filler word "will" to make the sentence more natural sounding and grammatically correct.

    This line:
I want her to choose which instrument she wants to learn more after a few years.

Reason: It's technically correct but could be reworded to sounds slightly more natural as:

Reason: Changed "to" to "at" and changed "improve" to "improving" as this indicates something that will happen on a ongoing basis (she will improve and keep improving over time).

    1. Thank you Terry!
I am happy to know that my daughter likes music very much.
Recentry, she likes practising the Electone every day and she often tries to play the song which she has only listened to somewhere.
She can do modulation by herself without my help.
I want to believe her ability and help her practise.
It costs too much and maybe I shouldn't overestimate her talent, but I want to believe that the investment for her will become a big property for her life in the future.
      Thank you so much!
